About Havering

There are good overground and underground rail services to central London, which will be further enhanced by Crossrail, although improvements are needed to Fenchurch Street services and to several rail interchanges. There is a relatively low density of public transport across much of the borough however, and Havering has some of the highest levels of car ownership and car use in London, which impacts on the environment and causes congestion in peak periods.

76% of residents asked in the Place survey 2009 are satisfied with the area as a place to live. That same survey showed that 88% of residents are satisfied with their homes as a place to live. 50% of residents asked in the 2009 Place Survey felt safe when outside in their local area after dark, and when asked if the local public services are working to make the area safer, 63% agreed.
