Havering Council - Strategic Context

Havering has a clear and well communicated strategic context within which we have made good progress in mainstreaming equalities and diversity. In 2008, we set out the 'Living Ambition', our 20 year vision for the future of the borough. The core aim of this is to achieve the highest quality of life in London for all our residents.

This will be achieved through a series of five goals that cover all aspects of our role as the local authority, including the Goal for Individuals, 'to value and enhance the lives of every individual'. Our ambition is that 'Residents will have individual and diverse needs and these will be dealt with fairly and respectfully. Residents will know that their views count; and that services are tailored to their needs. The quality and range of services provided to Havering's most vulnerable residents will be second to none across London'. Equality forms the central focus of the work being carried out under the Goal for Individuals, and is fundamental to the other stated goals.
